Ladies of Sci Fi

At some point earlier in the week I ended up watching a youtube video (and yes, mine will be up tomorrow on schedule) that was something about skecthing. The part that stood out to me was that the guy modeling for him would change  poses every 2 minutes.  Anyways, it made me really want to try some quick sketches. So, based (mostly) on the fair ladies of Sci-Fi here are some sketches I did Friday evening.

As you will see they are numbered much like the Kirbys from before. This is a little bit to make it a game, but mostly to see if I captured the person well enough to be recognizable.

Note: There are quite a bit of repeats, of actresses.

Pet Project Teaser

A couple of posts back I vented my frustration of needing to do something creative and having no clue where to even start. But, earlier this week (Thursday-ish I believe) I had an idea.  I was looking at the WoW Fan Art Section and an artist on Deviantart known as Pepperwolf (his work basically speaks for itself, but also in his gallery he broke down one of his pieces and described how he did each part) and I knew I could something similar... maybe not as spectacular, but I wanted to try. How did I end up with this particular subject? I'm not really sure; I just knew I didn't want to draw paint (painting is really closer to what I'm actually doing) something humanoid, so this was a perfect fit for what I was looking for.

But before I posted anything I wanted to have something to show and more importantly I wanted to make sure that I was going to follow through and actually start this and get somewhere. And I did, I think it coming along quite nicely. There's still a lot left to go though.

For those not familiar with WoW just note that it's basically a Tree-Person. Those familiar with WoW will recognize this a Resto Druid.

Artistic Block

Its so frustrating, I want to express some creativity; to led my artistic side out.

To let her run circles out in an dewy-grassy field barefoot, letting the blades squish between her toes. She practically banging on the door screaming to be free but, it feels like when to open that door try and she just sits there saying, "Yanow, I think I like it here. I don't want to go outside today after all."

So, I'm in a Catch-22 situation where I want need to get some creativity out, but I'm having trouble finding somewhere to start. It's like and writer's/an artistic block and I haven't even started yet.

I need to write or draw or paint or something! And blogging and puppets just aren't cutting it anymore. I need something bigger and more grand than this... I need one of those all-encompassing projects.

Now on a less frustrated note, some really random things that make me happy:

  • Fog, cloudy days, and the "color" gray-  I love gray mostly because my eyes are grayish-blue and I I think cloudy skies make for fantastic pictures
  • Red felt-  for some reason the texture of red felt is better than any other color, its thick but soft
  • Black watercolor-  while watercolors are known for being light and translucent I love the black because of the smooth, perfectly dark line it produces
