Surfing the interwebs today I discovered a group of pictures showing seemly transparent monitor screens. They are actually desktop wallpapers of pictures the user took of whatever is behind there computer. Clever, eh?

The Internet

As a regular blogger (I'm very proud I can say this) my love of the internet is somewhat obvious. I think that largely the Internet is fantastic. Also, random fact: it's grammatically correct to capitalize the word "Internet."That being said the Internet-- in m household our Internet provider/service is kinda terribad. So, today were trying Timewarner Cable's Roadrunner to see if we want to switch. This does however mean in setting this all up that my Internet access and therefore ability to blog is somewhat unreliable, hence why I'm rushing this. 

I do hope this works out. Faster Internet would be fantastic.

Sweet Nothings

I talked about TV yesterday and it gave me (read: almost relates to) an idea for today's topic-- Internet time wasters. More specifically TVtropes. I find that TVtropes and Wikipedia are dangerous places for me, since I can sink hours into them. Although all things considered I could be doing worse since I learn a lot of neat factoids form doing this. The problem for me is that I start harmlessly on one page and end up jumping and opening up a bazillion tabs different tabs (which makes me seriously glad I'm using Chrome). For example I currently have 20 tabs open.

Unrealated, I this is at least the 6th time this months I've blogged while in front of the TV.

Jinxed

As everyone on this blog should be aware, I'm a geek and a nerd. I also love wearing T-shirts. So, my love of Jinx clothing is obvious. Linked on my sidebar, their website features shirts to please every sort of geek and gamer. My favorites tend to be the shirts they design for Blizzard games. I placed an order earlier this week when they released the new Starcraft designs and it came in today.

Apparently I have a thing for purple.

Casting

I'm still deciding what I think of this template, so I may end up changing it again (and again until I'm happy with it). I like the new design elements, but I'm not sold on the colors. But, that's not what I'm here to talk about today.

Podcasting. Love it, hate it, or never heard of it seem to be the opinions of it I see from people. I personally love it-- for specific purposes. For example I can't do a lot of things while listening to people talk: homework, writing, talking, blogging, etc. However, I think some of the greatest and funniest things I've heard come from podcasting. For podcasting I also feel that pure audio is better than a video podcast because it allows you to do something else while listening and because its faster to download of iTunes or to stream online. In the past I've listened to all sorts of different podcasts, from generic geek to World of Warcraft to Ask a Ninja (I've even been a part of a robotics podcast for my high school team). However, recently I haven't been listening/watching any podcasts, because either the podcasters stop putitng the shows together or becaues I lost interest.

This summer I found a new podcast-- about D&D involving the creators of the PVP and Penny Arcade webcomics  that has brought back my love of Podcasting. This podcast is great for anyone interested in D&D in any fashion, whether you're trying to find out what its all about, or veteran players who want to learn about the changes that 4E brings. Also, while like many podcasts each part is pretty long it is absolutely hilarious. If D&D isn't your thing there are podcasts for virtually everything now.

Don't Stop Me

Because I really need more distractions before finals I was directed to a particular web comic (here) that often makes science and math jokes. 

However, the science in this joke is minimal.

Blizzcon, Baby!

I'm going to Blizzcon this year! I got my tickets this morning. Although I will admit that I was worried that we wouldn't get tickets after seeing how busy the queue was earlier this week. Yikes! However, due to some mad clicking skills from a handful of us we now have enough tickets for everyone.

 Generally I find that web-based flash games are boring. Or in the case of Facebook games, they're pointless and/or soul-stealing wastes of time.

However, I was just introduced to a flash game that I do enjoy.

Continuity

Basically, its a mixture of a platform and a puzzle game, also it pretty addictive. Anyone who's interested can play the game at their website.

BEDA

Only the day before it started I learned about BEDA (Blog EveryDay in April). (Although I think officially for 2010 it's been moved to August.) I figured if David (The Admiral's Log) was going to basically start a blog to post everyday in April, then I could also throw in my attempt since I've been blogging half a year now. So, here we are.

So here are the rules you can expect to hold me to:
1. I will post one blog entry for everyday in April. Starting with this post, April 1st.
2. Each post must have at least three full sentences and be able to act as a legitimate post, I am however allowed to edit posts.
3. Each day post must be between Midnight and 11:59 PM PDT of each day.

While I normally hate April Fools: today has had some good Internet hoaxes. And that is fine my me. One of my biggest pet peeves, however, is probably mean-spirited practical jokes; or maybe I just don't enjoy ruining other people's days only for a cheap laugh. Also if you chck the WoW armory I make a smexy Tuskarr.

Kirb-tastic!

While I'm not a regular reader of most web comics there are some that I do enjoy. One of these is VG Cats. And while catching up on comics I saw this comic (or more technically this artwork) I figured it would be fun to share. If you can name all of the characters without looking at the key; I don't know whether I should salute you or pity you.

About other webcomics: I read 8-Bit Theater (but I am ridiculously behind) and sometimes read Penny Arcade. While I do enjoy this format its always been more difficult to keep up with these as I like to start from the beginning the comic, and 8-bit alone has over 1000 comics.
