May Flowers

It's weird not being bound to the blog by the BEDApril (as we've come to call it, as opposed to BEDAugust or Blogust) so, while I am going to try to blog most days from now on, seeing as I proved I can do it, I am not going to be posting everyday anymore. I'm going to focus more on making sure I post quality posts rather than fanatically trying to make a deadline for a day. Like today for example, is after midnight. I will be participating in Blogust this August, and I really encourage anyone and everyone to try and participate.

So, today's post began as a comment on Mike's final BEDA post, but I decided I was typing enough and being general enough that I should just turn it into a post:
About the stories: I know the feeling with Marlon's story starting out-- it was much more complex than the story I had written. I saw that on the first day and was very glad I didn't have to write that for that day. And yes, he really does need to finish his story. I really enjoyed that whole tandem story experience and was very, very pleased with how my own story was handled from the guys. I had a great time trying my best to emulate the styling of the other writers. Hopefully, when we next do BEDA we can organize an even more epic story experience.

Bad Meyr

I find that if you're not careful its very easy to get into a cycle of not thinking about these posts. Because the past two days I've totally copped out. And that's not really blogging. People don't care to read about how I'm frantically trying to make sure I don't fail. That being said, I completely wanted to write today off as much of the same. So, here's me trying to be good, since I'm in the final stretch of BEDA.

This weekend, I played DnD as I briefly mentioned the last two days. This is the campaign we were planning on started after Freelancer wrapped up, but we started early because the people we had this weekend it made more sense this way. This does mean that Freelancer is wrapping up, and that Kori will have some sort of closure good, bad, or otherwise.

BEDA

Only the day before it started I learned about BEDA (Blog EveryDay in April). (Although I think officially for 2010 it's been moved to August.) I figured if David (The Admiral's Log) was going to basically start a blog to post everyday in April, then I could also throw in my attempt since I've been blogging half a year now. So, here we are.

So here are the rules you can expect to hold me to:
1. I will post one blog entry for everyday in April. Starting with this post, April 1st.
2. Each post must have at least three full sentences and be able to act as a legitimate post, I am however allowed to edit posts.
3. Each day post must be between Midnight and 11:59 PM PDT of each day.

While I normally hate April Fools: today has had some good Internet hoaxes. And that is fine my me. One of my biggest pet peeves, however, is probably mean-spirited practical jokes; or maybe I just don't enjoy ruining other people's days only for a cheap laugh. Also if you chck the WoW armory I make a smexy Tuskarr.

Original post sent from David's iPhone after almost failing on the first day (because between 7 hours of class, 2 hours in a car, and a movie: there isn't a lot of time left in the day)

Vlog the First

Emma this is for you. I decided to make it something a little different. Also, this probably won't be a common format for updates as it takes a little longer than just writing something, although it is fun.

Random Thoughts

I've been thinking about this since I came up with the title for this blog.

If terrible and horrible, or terrify and horrify mean the same thing. Then why are terrific and horrific opposites?

I was trying to come up with other words that ended in "ific" and this is was I came up with.

Which the horribly nerdy story behind this title is that "Meyr" is my character's name in WoW. Since I've been playing that same character the last 3 and a half years I've become sort of attached  her. I came up with "Meyrific" recently as a name I would use playing LAN Warcraft and Starcraft (actually it was more playing Tower Defense than anything else, but you get the point). And now its the title of my blog, because its nerdy, fairly short and catchy, and I already identify with it.

A Little Background

As some of you may or may not know, for college my best friend, Emma, moved to Long Island, New York. Meanwhile, I'll only be a couple of hours away from our hometown in California. She's half the reason I'm starting the blog-- the other half consists of 1.) a desire I've had to be "one of those internet people" that have been blogging for years that have an actual following and 2.) a way to document my life and to share it with people I know. The reason why Emma is part of the reason I'm starting this blog is because she's also starting a blog. This way we'll both be able to keep up with what the other is doing.

Earlier today I was talking to her via aim while she was venting her  frustration over trying to start and manage a blog using iWeb. We both came to the decision that using a site creating exclusively for
blogging made starting easier, hence, why I'm using Blogger. And I'm also very pleased with the way my blog looks, now I just have to  decide if I want to keep using the name Meyrific or if there's a
better blog name out there somewhere.

So, we'll try to keep each other of a regular posting schedule, so that we can both keep in touch and become "those internet people."

The Beginning

Hello and welcome! My name is Elle and this is my big break into the world of blogging.

I am a college student at Cal Poly Pomona majoring in Chemistry. By nature I'm a total geek and expect me to talk about it here. I enjoy playing video games and am known better online as Meyr. Also in the real world, I enjoy the more creative side of life and enjoy writing, drawing, photography, graphic design, and decorating cupcakes.
